What happens to orphans in Ukraine when they age out of the orphanage?
Every year an estimated 15,000 children will age out of the system and be evicted from orphanages all over Ukraine.
106,000 children currently live in more than 750 state institutions.
60% of the girls will enter into prostitution.
70% of the boys will turn to crime to survive.
10% of these children will commit suicide.
Another 800,000+ children are refugees from the war zone.
All of these children are at high-risk and with limited opportunities, they become targets of human trafficking.

- Short Term Mission Trips To Ukraine - HIS Capital Group Orlando Investing with a purpose: HIS Capital Group and Rick Melero served with Mission 823 on a recent short term mission trip to Ukraine. Over the years, our philanthropic endeavors have led us throughout the U.S and abroad. We are often asked about how we choose which endeavor to take part in. While there are several factors we consider, in many ways, the mission chooses us. To that point a little over a year ago the team was in conversation about where our efforts would take us next, when a friend and client, visited our office and spoke about something that weighed heavy on his heart and mind. That discussion triggered our desire to align with Mission 823 and journey to war-torn Ukraine. There we would find a team fighting overwhelming odds and unbearable conditions with limited resources to provide a safe harbor for an ever-growing population of orphaned children. After seeing and spending time with the many faces behind the horrid stories of mental & physical abuse, sex trafficking, and slavery, our purpose was clear.
